In 1981, 5 years after the first Acerbis accessory in thermoplastic, the Elba headlight was created. The Elba was the first headlamp with an unbreakable light. This headlight was made to replace the metal front number plate and became a very popular addition for all enduro riders.

The Elba name comes from the six days organized on the Elba Island, Italy in 1981, where it was used and presented to the public.
